Marconi 100 Year Transatlantic Celebrations 1901-2001

On 12th December 1901 Marconi achieved a major milestone with the first successful radio transmission across the Atlantic from Poldhu in Cornwall, to Newfoundland in Canada.

The Centenary in 2001 was commemorated in Chelmsford by several events including a visit by Princess Elettra Marconi-Giovanelli (Marconi's daughter) and unveiling of town signs
