Geoff Lovegrove G7KLV - Silent Key
1925 - 18-Aug-2023 , Age 98
It is with sadness we report the passing of Geoff Lovegrove G7KLV on 18th August 2023, aged 98.
As a young twenty-year old in 1945 he had the good luck to join what was then known as the Receiver Group at Marconi Great Baddow, working under George Grisdale - the group which had developed the CR series of receivers.
After time elsewhere he later re-joined Marconi Comms Line Division, finally leaving Marconi in 1971 to work for the Anglia Water Authority looking after comms links until retirement in 1990.
Geoff joined the CARS Committee in 1992 and initially took on the role of Librarian. Later in April-1998 he became joint newsletter editor with Colin G0TRM until retiring at the October 2005 AGM
After lots of volunteer effort, Geoff finally retired from CARS duties in 2013, after further assisting with posting printed newsletters.
However Geoff stayed around - as for many years he had provided a link with Sandford Mill via his time with Friends of the Museum
