Monday July 18th was the mid-summer Essex Skills Night, hosted by CARS at Danbury Village Hall. Skills Coordinator Pete M0PSX has arranged some interesting topics/demos... (details below)Skills is a great opportunity chance to get "hands-on" with aerials, datamodes, construction, our famous Quiz and more.
Activities on the night included:-
- Pixie Construction: Dave M0HBV demonstrated how to construct a Pixie QRP transceiver on the night - and had quite a few interested followers...

- Portable: Charlie M0PZT brought his revised portable setup which includes an Elecraft KX3, new Powerpole cables and a light-weight balun. He also had a selection of accessories available to buy on the night from his Ham Goodies range.
- Testing: Mike G4NVT brought his test equipment for testing antennas and handhelds, VSWR testing etc His versatile setup on his spectrum analyser was used to measure filters amongst other things

- Quiz: The CARS quiz, hosted by Chris G0IPU had some nice questions drafted by Murray G6JYB, including this anagram you can find in your radio licence...

- Data modes: Essex Ham had their usual Getting Started handouts for newcomers to the hobby. In additon Peter M0PSX brought something different - a demo of broadcast radio playout software

- Callsign badges: James 2E0JTW brought his new engraver so you could get a new callsign badge while you wait...
