Skills Night - March-2016

Monday March 21st saw over fifty people attend the Essex Skills Night, hosted by CARS at Danbury Village Hall. Peter M0PSX, Skills coordinator, had missed a schools evening to sustain the ongoing successful series of evenings, so it was pleasing to see so many people and yet more new things on display.

The evenings agenda and Chris G0IPU (left) making a few announcements

Essex Ham Pi-Zero video player - and Nick M0NFE with his 'M6 corner'

Constructors corner had various homebrew and test equipment items - new and old

Charlie M0PZT with a lot of interest on SDR dongles - and Rob M0KCP with Essex CW Club

Andy G7TKK used Virtual Machines and SDR# to run a triplet of SDR dongles

Chris M6EDF brought a new box - the HackRF One - a SD-Transceiver

The quiz had a 'pleasant' selection of questions that included Films with CW, odd-one-out callsigns, and Special Event calls used by schools for Tim Peake ISS contacts.

The evening was all the more pleasant as plentiful tea, biscuits and cakes were catered for by Ann, David G3SVI and Myra M0MYR - our thanks.

Next Event: Monday 18-Apr-2016

Venue: Danbury Village Hall, CM3 4NQ

Skills Night takes place at the Danbury Village Hall – Entrance is free, and the event is open to all. Tea/coffee is also available.
