About CARS

Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) is a vibrant club with around 100 members holding amateur radio licences. Based in and around Chelmsford, Essex, it is nationally recognised as playing a very active role in amateur radio across a wide range activities including social, operational and development/training aspects. Our club callsign is G0MWT (aka GX0MWT). The Society is affiliated to the national body, the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB).

CARS members collectively have a huge range of technical experience and operate from HF to the microwave bands. With roots going back to the 1930s, the Society draws much of its membership from professionals in the electronics and radio field. The club is a major training provider and offers courses/exams at all levels - training dozens of licensees a year.

Meetings/talks are held on the First Tuesday of each Month in Danbury Village Hall 7:30-9:30pm CM3 4NQ. There regular on-air nets on other Tuesdays.

Visitors are always very welcome - please introduce yourself at the door and purchase a Raffle Ticket. Traditionally, Visitors usually win a prize!

Training and Activity nights are based at Danbury Village Hall CM3 4NQ. Training is typically on Thursday evenings, along with CW classes.
